Vök is a dream-pop/indie-electro band from Iceland.

Vök was formed in January 2013 to enter an annual band contest in Iceland, 'Músíktilraunir' (Music Trials).The problem? They didn't actually have any songs. Yet within a few weeks they were at the contest performing their brand new tracks. In a twist of fate (and talent) won the competition.

After 2 years (2013-2015) of filming in the whole country, we gathered about 600 time-lapse clips, which is about 5TB of raw footage.

Correct Movie: Turn to Dust from J-Scott

I often find myself making notes on what techniques or projects I want to attempt next, changing and adding to them. This was a culmination of a few of those notes during my free time in the past few months.

I wanted to try my hand at heavily tracking footage, with the intention of using those tracks to design a piece that was calm and beautiful and natural. I located some beautiful shots of butterflies already shot and felt those would be a perfect start. This is my best attempt at that using my favorite song, ever.

What can we learn by examining only the first and final shot of a film? This video plays the opening and closing shots of 55 films side-by-side. Some of the opening shots are strikingly similar to the final shots, while others are vastly different--both serving a purpose in communicating various themes. Some show progress, some show decline, and some are simply impactful images used to begin and end a film.
